About Our Social Stability Programs
We provide a wide array of social services including emergency rental, utility, and food assistance; senior services; self-sufficiency programs; a food pantry; and a resale shop. Our social services’ team works daily to help give a hand-up, not a hand out to people in South St. Louis City seeking self-sufficiency and independence.
Client Choice Food Pantry
Our food pantry provides food assistance to people living in zip codes 63104 and 63118. The pantry stocks most staples, like canned foods, bread, pastas, rice, beans, etc. Fresh produce and meat are available frequently as well.
Things to know:
- Rather than provide pre-boxed food, Guardian Angel allows clients to shop for food, based on dietary and religious needs.
- Hours of Operation: (by appointment only)
- Wednesday, 4 pm to 7 pm
- Thursday, 9 am to 7 pm
- Every 2nd Saturday of the month, 9 am to 1 pm

Donate to our Client Choice Food Pantry

Self-Sufficiency Workshops
We offer a wide variety of self-improvement classes throughout the year, including financial literacy, healthy cooking and helpful parenting courses. All upcoming classes can be found in our social service event calendar. Registration is required to attend.
Emergency Assistance
Emergency Assistance Program provides direct assistance to families, seniors, and individuals who are at risk for eviction, foreclosure/or utility shut-off.
Those who receive direct housing aid also participate in one-on-one self-sufficiency counseling and/or workshops. These activities cover a variety of topics including:
- financial literacy and budgeting
- accessing community resources
- negotiating payments with landlords and public utility companies
- navigating education and employment programs
Senior Program
Guardian Angel’s Senior Program helps older adults (60+) gain the skills, resources, and connections to live independently, experience less social isolation, and improve their overall well-being. Program activities include:
- Individualized case management and resource referrals
- Food access (including food deliveries for those with transportation or mobility challenges)
- Transportation support
- Life skills workshops (financial literacy, fitness, nutrition, tenant rights, computer skills, and more)
- Social activities (bingo, field trips)
- Housing stability (rent and utility assistance)
- Thanksgiving and Christmas programs
- Connections to volunteer opportunities

Holiday & Seasonal Programs
Back to School Program
During back to school time in late Summer, we partner with other community organizations to distribution school supplies, backpacks and shoes for up to 1,000 Pre-K through 12-grade students.
Thanksgiving Meal Program
As a part of our year-round strategy for addressing hunger, we offer food to families in need of a Thanksgiving meal.
Christmas Program
In partnership with other community organizations, the Christmas program enables the distribution of food, clothing, and gifts to an average of 600 families and 500 seniors in need.
